Allergic Rhinitis and Asthma in Association with Fungal Pollution of Indoor Environments

Allergy or asthma is triggered by inhaling allergens such as dust, mites, pet dander, pollens, and fungal molds. Samples were collected from various indoor environments including air conditioner filters, carpets, plant soil, living room air, pillow covers of residents in air-conditioned flats for screening the pollution their role allergies asthma. This study included 30 with school-aged children suffering a healthy control group another 20 other residential environments. The fungi isolated include Aspergillus niger, A. nidulans, flavus, fumigatus, Alternaria sp., Paeciliomyces species, Bipolaris Trichophyton verrucosum, T. rubrum. species all while only soil. presence was higher 1 allergic rhinitis significant p-value <0.00001 showing its when compared 2 without allergy further grouped into intermittent (70%), persistent (13%), (17%) cases based on symptoms duration. For treatment rhinitis, combination oral antihistamines, nasal decongestants used, treated corticosteroids (oral/intranasal), leukotriene receptor antagonists. Asthma salbutamol sulfate, bronchodilator, antagonists antiallergic treatments. A treatments improved hygiene showed better relief significantly reduced to recovered symptoms.
